Jumping into selfie waters

{Taken with PhotoBooth @ night, reason why it is so darn grainy!}
{But I still like it, even with that third eye on my forehead!}

As I was going through my photos, looking for one for a review, I found this photo of me. I don’t think there are many photos of me in them. I am usually the one behind the camera and whenever Tyler takes a photo of me he never tells me when he will take it and, 90% of the time, I look like crap! Eyes rolled back, bad posture, in the middle of the sentence. And when I am actually ready he leaves.

I have been secretly following SelfieMagic self portrait meme. I just can’t gather myself to join. I think it is mostly due to what are other’s are going to think of me. Often times self portraits are taken as vanity by many people. But I want to leave an image of what I looked like and what I was all about for my kids, and their kids, and so on. But I just can’t do it. I am usually hiding in the bathroom or when I am alone. Tyler calls them ‘mirror pictures’ and sometimes he makes fun of me for them. He does it in a fun loving way, I know. But it makes me insecure about taking them. Plus I really wish I had a remote for my camera!! The self timer thingy is not always the way to go, specially when your little toes catches the corner of your dresser!

But I have decided to go for it. I might be way behind, but I’ll start from week 1. Take my time. Do it for me and only me. I owe this to myself.

    Good for you! I don’t know why we all hate pictures of ourselves. It’s sad. Please let me encourage you to take pictures of yourself and of you with Tyler and the boys! My mom passed away when I was 6, and we have very few pictures of her. Sure, pictures aren’t everything, but they do help people remember stuff. Even if it’s not big, special days – just laying around watching TV together or making dinner together or who sits where at the dinner table. At least with digital cameras, you can keep trying until you get one you like (hopefully)! Let the boys take pictures of you! Sometimes, little kids get great shots!

      Both the boys love playing with my camera!! One of my favorite shots of J. were taken by A.!! I’ll start taking more photos of us as a family and of myself, promise!! 🙂

    A librarian friend of mine invited me to join the 365 days meme and I was all gung ho for the first 50 or so days then I started to feel kind of narcisstic and started skipping days. However, going back over the photos, I do like that I’ve taken them and posted them. Now there are reminders for me and my family about life. I wish that my mom (and my dad, now that he’s gone) had done something like that for us back in the day.

    Good luck and enjoy playing with your camera.
