Dominex {Review}

Lately we’ve been trying new things at home. Slowly the boys are welcoming new tastes and textures to their list of good food. Potatoes are still out though. And bananas.

Just recently we got the chance of reviewing some of Dominex products.

Located in Florida, Dominex LC has been the pioneer in eggplant for over 25 years. We strive to provide our customers with superior fresh quality and exceptional customer service in everything we deliver. Further, innovation in product development is truly our goal, thus allowing us to fulfill our promise of “bringing you a whole new taste in eggplant.”

We reviewed Dominex Veggies Fries and Dominex Eggplant Cutlets. I never really liked eggplant. It might have to do something with my mom never making it for us at home, maybe she doesn’t like eggplant, who knows. But lately I have been being adventurous with my food (still won’t eat any seafood, gross).

We started our review with the Veggie Fries. Dominex fries have 65% less sodium per serving than the leading brands of French fries and 4g of dietary fiber. Not bad, huh? I have never been that into salt and I really appreciate a product that has low sodium.

A batch of Veggie Fries can be either fried or baked. I decided to throw mine in the oven since I don’t like fried food. The time of baking/frying varies from oven to oven. I baked mine for 15 minutes and broiled on high for 1. Many of the fries where crunchy but soggy in the inside. I might have done something wrong but I am willing to give it a try once more! I mean, this batch did way better than my first batch of veggies fries (homemade zucchini fries). The veggie fries are great as a side dish or even snacking!

The Dominex eggplant cutlets are unpeeled which makes them a whole food source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. I couldn’t get the boys to eat the Eggplant Cutlets so I ended trying them by myself. I had so many ideas on how to cook them like eggplant parmesan, eggplant lasagna, burgers, so many ideas! But I was not going to cook a huge meal for just myself! So I ended adding an eggplant cutlet to my blue cheese burger and even though it was not my favorite burger ever it was pretty good! It added a little oomph to it…and I also added salsa! Yumms…
I am always up to trying new things and I truly enjoyed learning about Dominex. If you are a veggie lover, vegetarian, vegan or a foodie make sure to try Dominex, it might become a new favorite of yours!
