Just recently Tyler and I decided to ‘get out life back’, as he stated. Since then we have planned a few dinner parties with our friends. For me, a dinner party goes beyond good food. Food presentation is a must! I am one to believe that it simply makes food look better. Imagine a great plate of Mexican rice thrown on a greasy, rusty serving dish. Now imagine the same side dish on a perfectly white ceramic dish. Which would you eat from? I’d chose the latter.
Just recently I learned about Denby, who graciously sent us one of their products for review.
Every piece has been designed for cooking, serving and eating food – from the ‘gravy rim’ on our plates to the space on our saucers for biscuits. Feel at ease when using Denby as we have provided a safe product for you and your family. NO LEAD or cadmium is used during the manufacturing process of any Denby product. Our tableware is made for real food, not just for show. It’s for sharing, for fingers, for chopsticks, for barbeques, for kitchens…you choose.
Denby’s products range from teacup sets to mugs to china to complete dinner sets. It took me a bit to choose the one, but soon decided on one of the James Martin Cookware collection: the Cook Large Shallow Oblong Dish which is gorgeous!
The shape is simple yet elegant and modern. It measures 38cm(l)x27cm(w)x5cm(h). It’s crisp white and extremely easy to clean! And I kid you not! As you can judge by the photo above, we had Jambalaya for our very first dinner party. Red and green peppers, hot links, chicken, onions and quite a few grease from the hot links. It was delicious! Cleaning was a breeze. I simply rinsed it off and put it in the dishwasher and it came out just like new! No spots or stains, perfectly clear.
And it is not only dishwasher safe but microwave and freezer safe. I bet there’s are not a lot of ceramic cookware that can say the same!
The feature I like the most is the two opposite corners that work wonders as handles. No more sticking the oven mittens in the food!
And to be honest, I chose this specific one since Tyler is all about simple, modern lines. When i showed it to him he was “Ooh, nice!” which in his book means ‘awesome’! Now all I have to do is not break it…I am known for breaking things…
I’ll have to give another chance to my handmade Mac ‘n Cheese skills…I can see it now…yumms! All I have to do is wait for the weather to get a bit cooler, oh wait! it already is! Darn Portland overcast skies…summer, yeah right!
