There isn’t anything else my boys like the best like ice cream…besides toy cars, buses, and chocolate, that is. I have always wanted to make my own ice cream since it seemed like a fun activity to get the boys involved into. Thanks to Sassafras we are now able to make our own right at home! I don’t even know who was more excited when the ice cream maker came in the mail: the boys, the husband or me. I am pretty sure it was Tyler. He is an ice cream junkie!
Chocolate Frosty
5 tablespoons of cocoa
1 can (14 oz) condensed milk
1/2 pint (250 ml) whole milk

{That’s it! 3 simple ingredients that you already have at home!}
Directions:
-
- Mix together the milk and condensed milk.
- Make sure you dissolve the cocoa in a little hot water….’cause if you don’t, well it is going to take a bit too long to get it dissolved in the milk! My arms got sore from all that mixing!
- When fully dissolved stir it into the milk/condensed milk mixture.
- Pour half of the mixture into each side of the Ice Cream Maker.
- Cover and press the “Mix” button for 30 seconds.
- Press the “Freeze” button and place in the freezer for 4 hours or until the ice cream is just set (no liquid in center).
- If you wish to add stir-ins (e.g. crushed candy, Oreo cookies, etc) stir them in at this point. Consistency will be icy vs. creamy. Makes about 1 pint total.
It was so easy to make. Simple as 1-2-3. And the boys loved the machine and helping out. They are my little helpers after all! Though, I must say that those were the longest 4 hours for A.! Boy wanted that ice cream to be done ASAP! Not even after 2 minutes of putting the ice cream maker into the freezer and he wanted it done! He would continually say “Mom, it is done! It’s done!” as he pointed at the stove clock.
{Doesn’t the ice cream look delicious!?}
The look on their face when daddy suggested they had ice cream instead of chocolate milk was priceless! Unfortunately, my camera was nowhere to be seen.
