One scary day

The weather finally gave us a break the past two days. Of course this means that it is raining once again.

It was overcast but still warm, muggy. It was a great day to go to the playground (which I can see from right outside my living room window). There were two other moms with their kids. The boys were enjoying themselves until J. decided it was time to go walk around the neighborhood with their trucks.

On our walk we saw and greeted some of our neighbors. The day was going on perfectly until I looked behind me and saw a car stopped in the middle of the road a few feet away. I didn’t give much thought to it. So we went on with our walk and as we turned around the corner I see the same car right behind us. It drove up the road instead of turning left like we did. I looked back once more and the car was hiding behind a tall patch of grass. It was then when it hit me, that guy is following me and my kids. Panic started to fill my head but I knew I had to keep it cool for the sake of the boys.

We got back home as fast as 2 pairs of little legs allowed us to. We were about to cross the road and the car is right there on the street staring at us. I picked the boys up and ran inside the house.

Luckily by husband works from home so as soon as I opened the door I had to tell my him what had just happened. He jumped off his chair, and along with his brother, went to talk to the guy following us, our neighbor.

While they were gone I was so mad and upset. And when Tyler got back and told me the big lie the neighbor told him I was enraged. He said he was just making sure we lived in the neighborhood since the park can only be used by people who live in the community. Bullsh*t! He knows pretty well who we are and has kept us under his radar since day one by walking infront of our house and looking inside our windows from across the road. He has complained about my boys playing on the bushes with some other kids. He knows who we are.

We had to call the cops. I am still freaked out. He might be old, retired, and bored, but to follow mothers and their kids around the neighborhood to make sure they live close by is simply creepy, uncalled for, and completely scary. Yup, we are not the first family stalked around and scared off. He does it all the time. And if he is not stalking people, he’ll stand outside your window and look into your house or asses how much of a messy garage you have and share every bit of information on you and your family to the community’s board. No wonder he was kicked out of it.

So, yeah. Yesterday was a scary day for me. I couldn’t sleep and I am still shaky as I type this. I just don’t know what he is capable of. And I don’t want to ever find out. Not only did he scared us but he put the life of my kids in danger. Next time I see him close to my family I’ll have to confront him and call the cops once more. I might even send his a set of knitting needles and yarn to keep him occupied.

What would you have done in my case?

OMG! That’s horrible! I’d be scared and freaked out too – and good for you for calling the cops! I hope they scared him straight! I can’t believe he’d just follow you around like that – but kudos to you for noticing that. Hopefully you won’t have to deal with that kind of excitement again.

Hey stranger!! It was beyond creepy. We haven’t seen the buy since that day. Hopefully he got the message not to mess with my family.

That is WAY creepy and I would have reacted the same way. Sounds like you did the best thing by getting to safety and calling the police. The guy certainly needs a new hobby and I wouldn’t accept any further ridiculousness from him. I hope he got the message and leaves you alone for good.

He’s been MIA ever since…and I hope it stays that way. I have heard his wife is worse than him…

Yikes! That’s terrible! We have a creepy old man who lives behind us. He’s always at his window or on his deck staring into our house. We keep the blinds closed and even avoid going in the backyard because of him. He’s a really cranky old man and is always yelling and swearing at people. I’m sure that when he decides to move (hopefully some day soon), we’ll have a neighborhood party!

Has anyone asked the guy to stop? One should be able to walk around their house and neighborhood without fearing for crazy people following or yelling at you!
