Nap time is lame, but necessary (or so does mommy say). Sleeping time is extra lame…specially if 10 books aren’t read before loosing ourselves into dream land. Lunch time means that nap time is at bay. Snack time, on the other hand, is the best time of the day! Apples, crackers & cheese, popcorn, strawberries, grapes, and, now, Somersault Snacks!
What makes Somersault Snacks so amazing is that both my boys like them! I am very glad that even A. likes Somersault Snack, though he doesn’t like them as much as J. and I do., but hey, he eats them and that makes me a happy mama. I’d rather he eats sunflower snacks than crappy Cheetos!
Celebrate the power of seeds!
But well, from a health stand point they are even better! Somersault Snacks contain mainly sunflowers which are not only for baseball players anymore! Just one serving of these tiny seeds have:
- 4x more antioxidants than blueberries…
- More fiber than an apple…
- AND 50% more protein than almonds!
More protein?! This is exactly what J. needs since he is a self proclaimed vegetarian. This little man is beyond picky. He is the pickiest kid I’ve ever met…he is more than a vegetarian, he is, what I like to call, a fruitetarian!
There are four flavors:
- Pacific Sea Salt, Vegan » toasted grains, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and sea salt.
- Dutch Cocoa, Vegetarian » toasted grains, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and rich cocoa flakes.
- Salty Pepper, Vegetarian » toasted grains, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and cracked pepper and sea salt.
- Santa Fe Salsa, Vegan » Toasted grains, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds mixed with spices of the Southwest, including jalapeno, chili pepper and chives.
These snacks are simply delicious, and at 140 pero serving they couldn’t be any better! For some odd reason 2 of these flavors reminded me of a snack I used to eat back at home. But before we go there lets talk flavors:
Salty Pepper: too salty for my taste, but hey, I try to avoid salt at all cost (not for the sodium but I simply don’t like salt). Santa Fe Salsa: it tastes just like salsa! It is so odd!! But they are so good!!
So, what do they remind me of? Well, Japanese Style Peanuts…with Valentina hot sauce and a dash of lime, eaten with a spoon! I am a weirdo, you can say it 😉
A.’s favorite are the dutch cocoa ones, they have chocolate after all, right?! J., well, this little boy loved the cocoa flavor but the cinnamon crunch was his upmost favorite! Sill ylittle boy sat at the table, all by himself, eating the entire bag of sunflower snacks!
Finding healthy snacks that my kiddos love always makes me feel at ease inside. It makes me feel like I am doing something right, that they are going to grow up to be strong men with big, big muscles! LOL
