I have always liked the way every room in the West Elm or Pottery Barn catalogs are decorated. So clean, clutter free, and with no toys laying around. Recently I came to the realization that, yes these rooms are beautiful, but they are not me/my family. I would love to have a room that is always looking as soon as on the photos…but somehow in the catalogs e very room looks so sterilized.
I want my house to feel comfortable, inviting, and lived in. With a little bit of everything; old and new. And somethings that have always called my attention are color and patterns. The more colorful the better.
The best ways to bring in color , in my opinion, is through throw pillows and curtains. During a window shopping spree, I made a stop over at Home Linen Collections and found one too many curtains that I really love! Of course, as one always does while shopping from the comfort of your house, every time I found a curtain I liked I would take a quick look around in order to find the perfect spot for the panels. But, of course, the windows on the house we are renting a) have no curtain rods and, b) they are too close to the ceiling, so adding curtains would look weird.
But I did find something I really liked: a beautiful set of turquoise shower curtains for the boys’ bathroom!! The colors on the curtain are the exact colors of their towels (the blue is a shade lighter on the curtain, but still).
Being that my boys couldn’t care less about their bathroom decor I am keeping it simple. I honestly doubt they will ever care what their bathroom colors are. So I took the liberty to choose turquoise/blue and lime green. I honestly love how the bathroom looks like now with a huge pop of color. It’d look even better if the walls where white but I am so not painting the wall. Besides, white and boys just don’t go together…at all.
- Fabric Made of 100% Polyester
- Classic Stripes Pattern
- 72″ Length by 70″ Width
- Handwash Only, Warm at 40 degrees Celsius, Warm Rinse Drip Dry
- Cool Iron.
What drew me to this curtain was not only the pre-chosen colors but the fact that my boys can grow up with them. I doubt that in a few years either one would complain about the curtain as they would with a shower curtain full of monkeys or cute little cars.
So, for the time being this is what their bathroom will look like. They only bathe and brush their teeth there and is rarely used to go potty. When the time comes to change the curtain due to any complains the decision will fall on them.
Of course, on my window shopping spree I came upon so many cute curtains! Like these Sheer Curtain Panels ($4.95/panel) that add just the perfect splash of color without cutting the light that comes in. They are so flowy and cute. If only…
They come in many more colors, but these 3 would have been my top 3 choices. So pretty!
Now these are simply gorgeous!! These Faux Silk Panel Curtains ($$7.99/panel) are to die for! The color is so rich and beautiful. I can spend all day looking at them…and of course there’s no window for them in my house, which is very, very sad indeed.
