Pearls represent purity, honesty, innocence, integrity, tranquility, serenity, and feminine wisdom. They simbolize the best within us and make us feel calm and beautiful. They denote class and elegance; purity and a happy marriage. This is why freshwater pearls have become the preferred jewelry for brides, from sewing pearls to bride gowns, wearing a brooch, necklace, or bracelet.
There are different kind of pearls therefore they come in a vast array of colors. Each color has a different meaning. For example:
- White: pure heart and mind; innocence,new beginning.
- Gold and Black: prosperity, wealth, love, compassion.
- Pink: health, love, romance, protection, happiness.
- Silver: dignity, self control, wisdom, security, dependability.
- Yellow: cheerful, happy, optimistic, blessing, clarity.
It is amazing that oysters and mollusks can turn a single grain of salt into a beautiful pearl. The world just won’t stop amazing me. Gem stones are one thing, turned by man from a rough stone into a ring. But pearls, they are organic matter derived from a living creature.
The Akoya pearls and Freshwater pearls are the most seek after. The Akoya are saltwater pearls from Japan, while the Freshwater are from China, among many other places like Fiji, Tahiti, Mexico, and Thailand. But, can you pick them apart? Lets play a little game. Look at the two photos below, which are Akoya pearls? Which are Freshwater Pearls?

I have never seen my self as a pearl kind of girl. I am more of a boh, eclectic kind of person. But after getting a beautiful white Freshwater Pearl Necklace from Pearl Distributors I might have had my mind changed for me. Yeah, you can call me biased, whatever. But once I opened the box that kept my pearls safe I couldn’t help but smile like a little girl who’s playing dress up with her mom’s pearls.
The pearl necklace I received is the real thing. How do I know? Well, for one, they are heavy. Real pearls are heavier for their size than faux pearls. Faux pearls can be made of plastic, glass, synthetic, manmade, artificial. While real pearls are made from a single grain of sand and if cut in half you’ll be able to see layer upon layer of nacre.
After I put my new pearls on I could feel the weight around my neck I instantly felt different. I instantly stood straight. Somehow, pearls give you extra confidence and make you feel classy, refined, and elegant.
