Eco Swim, one of my featured sustainable clothing brands, is here to help us end Summer with a bang! Fall is just around the corner but there is still time to go hang out by the beach or go swimming at the pool. But, who is Eco Swim? Why were they featured?
Well, simply because Eco Swim is the leading sustainable swim suit company in the US. What makes them so special is their use of sustainable materials. Every piece in their collections are made from fabrics made from 100% recycled materials. Using innovative materials Repreve combines post-consumer waste (plastic bottles) and industrial waste (nylon) to create their high quality fabric.
Eco Swim has the swim suit for every body type. Their models range from bikinis, to tankinis and one piece. And if that’s not enough, they also offer cover ups, skirts, and short you can easily pair with their other pieces!
I was given the opportunity to review a one piece suit from Eco Swim: Eco Classics, Princess Seam in black and white polka dots {$98}. This same model is also available in a floral pattern (light blue, beige, and white) as well as in black.
What made me decide on this specific swim suit was mainly becuase, well, it is a one piece suit which covers way more than a bikini! Ever since having my two boys my body has not been the same. And I doubt it will ever be the same. No complaining, don’t get me wrong, but my tummy is not flat anymore.
Eco Swim has a few different models to chose from. But what set me on the Princess model was the ruched tummy which helps minimize the mommy tummy. And although the fabric is a tad busy, it is still flattering.
The fabric, which is 100% recycled plastic bottles and nylon, is soft, high quality, durable, and breathable. I decided on the polka dots because they give the swim suit a vintage feel. Tyler wasn’t so sure about my new swim suit (lets remember he is anti-patterns) but once he saw it on he liked it. He is a bikini activist and would have preferred for me to choose a two piece suit, but well, mommy tummy is not making mommy too happy.
At first I was afraid to try it on. I mean, would the ruche middle actually hide the tummy? If not, would it accentuate it? What about the top, would it make my girls look saggy? Would they look nice?
I was so happy that the ruched middle works and my tummy is not accentuate. I am glad, as well, that the top doesn’t make my girls look saggy. Yes, they are not perky like they used to be, but that has nothing to do with the swim suit, and lots to do with nursing two boys!
Another great feature of this swim suit are the thick straps! No more straps sinking into your skin. They are so comfortable! You wouldn’t even know they are there…until you take the suit and see the tan lines!
My only con was the high back. Well, yes and no. I dislike it because it doesn’t surround every curve. It lifts a bit from the top of the buttocks to halfway up back) which adds a bit of a thickness to the back. This is not Eco Swim’s fault. I have always had this issue with one piece swim suits. On the other hand I like the high back since it helps hiding all the extras that the mommy tummy brings to the table. Every little extra feature to cover the tummy mommy makes this momma more than happy!

I love their stuff, but I have to say, there isn’t much to choose from. They don’t even have a one piece available and that is what you are promoting.
