Sprout Eco Friendly Watch

Most people think that being green means buying local, but it is more than that. Being green is about creating a lifestyle that works with Nature and does no long-term damage to our world. Supporting local businesses, buying local, buying sustainable clothing and accessories, are all great ways to live a green life.

Recently I came upon Sprout Watches, a sustainable company that brings the most eco-friendly timepieces possible. Their eco-friendly watches are made from, at least, 80% low impact, biodegradable, recyclable or renewable materials.

I was lucky to receive one of their watches to review: a purple Tyvek® watch ($35), which is beyond beautiful.

Materials used on every Sprout Eco Friendly Watch:

  • Corn Resin: used on the case, buckle, and some inner parts. Corn resin biodegrades in a compost environment in 3 years.
  • Organic Cotton: used on the strap. Organic cotton contains no harmful pesticides or fertilizers.
  • Bamboo: used on the dial.
  • Mineral Crystal: used on the lens. Mineral crystals are made by Nature, therefore biodegradable.
  • Post consumer content: used on the box.
  • Conflict Free Diamonds: all their diamonds are certified and conflict free.
  • Free Mercury Batteries.

This eco friendly watch features a Tyvek® strap, a corn resin bezel, white corn resin case and buckle, and a natural white mother of pearl dial with silvertone numbers and hands.

Tyvek® is a high-density fiber which is strong, water and tear resistant and is recyclable. With use, and over time, the Tyvek® strap develops a leather-like look, which makes it even cooler.

A watch with Tyvek® fibers can safely be incinerated or landfilled. So no matter what, rest assured that Sprout watches are safe for the environment.

This watch is versatile. It can be worn day or night and can be matched with any other piece of jewelry. Lately I have been into stacking watches, bangles, and bracelets. The more the merrier. And they really do not have to match. I love how the purple pops against my golden bracelet and the beaded one.It is easy to pair or wear alone.

And if purple is not your color….you still have quite a few other options to choose from!! Now, this Sprout eco friendly watch is the kind of accessory I wouldn’t mind having in every single color! I can hear the call to start a new collection…and I can picture my husband rolling his eyes at me, hehehe!

And if girly girl watches are not your style either, Sprout has it covered for you with high quality watches for both men and children!

Sprout Eco-Friendly Watches

Aside from what makes every single Sprout eco friendly watch so unique and amazing, my admiration for this company goes beyond it. It is always great to find a company that is transparent and truthful to their costumers and the world itself. Sprout doesn’t claim to be the greenest company out there. They are environmentally aware of how every decision they take has an impact on our world. After creating high quality timepieces for over 50 years, Sprout has made the great decision of making big changes from the materials used on their watches to those used on their packaging and how their products get shipped.

The point is, we know everyone has a choice and we want to make sure that we make the eco-friendly choice as often as we can. That’s why we developed Sprout to give you an eco-friendly choice.*

Isn’t it funny how “retro” it seems to wear a watch? I haven’t worn one in years, probably since I was wearing a Swatch with twisted guards on the face! haha

These are really cute. I would definitely wear one!

It does feel kind of retro wearing a watch, specially after years of not wearing one!! But I like how much easier it is to lift my wrist and see what time it is instead of finding my phone!

Its stuff like this that gets me going about how we all can make a difference in the world, it just starts with one minute in time!

I’m with you! You don’t need to go live in the woods in a tree house or go all green to make an impact. It is always the little things that count the most!

Beautiful beautiful watch!!! I adore the look and I don’t know if it’s because they are eco-friendly but the materials look unique and genuine! I don’t wear watches but I am thinking of starting wearing them again… perhaps i’ll get one of these! ;)
