We Take The Cake does, indeed, do as promised…and a bit more! We Take The Cake is a mail-order bakery that came to life back in 1997. They have 15 years of amazing homemade baking goodies to back them up!
And I am not taking this review lightly. I must be honest that, before We Take The Cake, I used to think that mail-order baking goods, be it cakes, specially cupcakes, or cookies, where low quality and practically lame. But I couldn’t have been any more wrong!
I received a delicious orange bundt cake ($28) to review. I mean, who turns down cake?! Not me!! The word diet does not exist in my vocabulary!
We Take The Cake
We received the cake on Halloween night, which was perfectly timed with having the family over for dinner before some trick-or-treating. We did not get a chance to try it out that night. Murphy’s Law is seriously enforced at our place, which sucks big time. We were supposed to be heading out at 6pm but my dear beloved husband made it home 25 past 6.
The cake sat on my kitchen counter for another 4 days. There I am reading the instructions: Shelf life of 5 days. Jaw drops, feeling horrible to have wasted a cake. So, I took the cake out of its super cute box. It smelled delicious!!

Besides smelling amazingly, the cake was still moist! I mean, you can see how moist this cake was by simply looking at the two photographs above. And this was after sitting on my counter for 4 days!

The bundt cake, to my surprise, has coconut shavings on the top. Its flavor, along with the orange, made this the best orange cake I have ever tried! This cake was mouth watering!

Back to the cake making…the bundt cake included a little bowl of confectioner’s sugar to sprinkle with a sifter over the bundt cake. I think this was genius, that way you get to add as many or as little as you’d like!

Once I cut a single slice of the amazing orange bundt cake, the entire cake disappeared in a matter of hours! As soon as my husband made it home he ate a half of the bundt cake all by himself!! The cake was that delicious!! Even my boys loved the cake, which is something coming from two little picky eaters (one worse than the other)!
