I have always dreamed of what I want my Home Sweet Home to be like, from the color of the siding, to the flowers in my garden, to the number of bedrooms and their locations. The main issue I have encountered while day dreaming of this house is the fact that my husband would love to have a gray, white, and red house while, me on the other hand, would love to have a colorful, bright, and full of patterns home; our decor tastes are quite the opposite: he likes modern, I like eclectic.
Home Sweet Home

My house would be located somewhere were it snows during the winter days and the summers are warm and sunny.
It would have 5 bedrooms + a den. one would be the master, of course. I am still undecided on whether each of my boys would have their own room, but by the time this house comes to fruition they will be old enough to be fed up with each other’s snoring. So I am guessing that we are now 3 rooms down, which leaves us with a guest room, four, and five my office/craft room.
The basement would be the man cave, which I have the feeling it will be the PS3 game/cigar lounge/boys-only-club room of the house. And this is fine with me.
I would have a covered porch with floor to ceiling windows that will open during the summer. It will have a small living area with a comfortable couch, a small coffee table, wall lamps, and plants of all sizes and shapes.
This porch would be the place to be on a snowy day while sipping on a hot cup of tea, chocolate, or coffee, depending on what you prefer. Or, on a hot summer day sitting on a chair reading a book and sipping on some margaritas, lemonade, or even mojitos?

My kitchen would be the place to be. A gourmet stove, double oven, extra large refrigerator (one day both my boys will be teenager monsters), a butler pantry, a breakfast nook, as well as a large island for entertaining and food prep.
Of course the room will be full of natural light, with a huge window overlooking into the backyard.

Besides the breakfast nook, I would also have a formal dining room, perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. It will be blue and white, the very same blue as in the picture to the right. It will be modern, cozy, and with lots of character.
I will have an entire wall, the largest in the room, covered in photos of the family, all in black and white.
The living room would have a huge wood burning stone fireplace as the center point. The fireplace will be double side with the terrace.
The couches will be a light shade of grey. And I will have to have two Louis XV chairs, as well as a tufted, leather ottoman with a tray, hydrangeas, and design and/or fashion coffee books.

The terrace will be a great place to host parties during the summer. The area will be large as to be occupied by a full living room with 2 large couches and extra sitting. It will, of course, be full of plants and color that will connect it with the backyard.
It will also be a great place for the boys to play in while it rains or snows outside.

Just to try to get myself to enjoy doing the laundry, I would have a bright and efficient laundry with the best washer and dryer out there. I will have a sink and a place for everything, hiding inside cabinets.
This room will also work as my mud room. Always wanted one, specially when living in the North West where it rains all year long.
My office would be shared with my craft room where I would sew. I would also have a desk for me to work on my blog on. As well as wall to wall bookcases full of all my favorite books and those favorite to my family.
It would be bright and open. And it will have a bay window seat for me to read while looking out onto my backyard. Tyler would decorate his own office, aka den, at his liking.
The master bedroom would be decorated in shades of grey, white, and plum. It will have extra space, off the bed area, with a sitting space with a TV.
The closet…well, I am not much into thinking about closets since I don’t have that many clothes.
But this room would be for Tyler and I, only.
The master bathroom will mimic the same decor and color scheme as the master bedroom. It will be a 5 piece en suite bathroom. I’d have a claw foot tub, while the shower would be big enough to fit 2 with enough shower heads to be sprayed from every angle of the shower. Now that would be an awesome shower.
There would also be two vanities and enough storage space for towels and toiletries.
Last but not least, the backyard, the funnest place in the entire house!
It will quite large, fenced, and will host my vegetable garden as well as a treehouse. A pool? I would rather not, but if we were to, why not make it a salt water pool with water slides?!
The boys would each be in charge of decorating their very own rooms as well as bathroom…of course with my agreement.

On my previous live (before kids) I was an architect and dreamed of a big house with a huge terrace and a stable with horses! LOL! Now I just want a house that is not too big so I don’t have to spend all day cleaning. Love the pics of the laundry room , I want one like that! and the terrace.
Lovely Home Sweet Home! I’ve never actually sat down and thought about what my dream house would look like. I at least know I don’t want it to be huge. I’ve lived in small houses all my life and that’s what I’m used to. Maybe I’ll start dreaming of my own Home Sweet Home!
Mine would be were it is at least 70 year round. 5 bedrooms, 2 walk in closets per room, den, dining, kitchen, 4 baths and so much more.
I want a covered porch too. Really I want a screened in porch. My mom and dad have porches all the way around their home screened in and it is so NICE to be able to sit out and not get eaten up by mosquitoes etc.
You can tell you haven’t thought about it at all! lol. j/k. Wow! So detailed! I have to say though, sadly I am just as thorough with my dream house plans. I’ve thought of tons of things, I’m sure I will never get. But hey, I can always dream right? But I do have “deal breakers” that the house we actually buy MUST have. A lot of that is the same as your list above. The kitchen is the most important for me. THen the Master Bedroom and Master bath.
I have to have a nice jacuuzi tub for when I lock myself in iwth candles, soft music and a great book. It’s how I’m going to survive my kids reaching the teenage years.
I might never leave my office once my boys reach their teenage years!! Yikes!
I think it would be a beach house that was forever saved from hurricanes!! LOL
Looks like an awesome home, I would like to own a home with enough bedrooms for all of us.
Your dream house would be magnificent! For myself I would be happy with a 2 bedroom apartment (one for an office with wall to wall bookcases)!
What an amazing house it would be! I would love house with a bigger kitchen and an office for my husband.
I love your dream house. I never thought about what I would like. I just know I would love to be by the beach.
What a beautiful house! A bit too big for me…but beautiful none the less!
amazing
i would love a terrace to. it would make a great addition!
