Begin Again Toys: Kickin' Putt - From PDX with Love

Begin Again Toys: Kickin’ Putt

Living in the Pacific North West (PNW) it is tough to keep my boys entertained when there is no way to go do so outside. See, it rains a lot where we live and although jumping on puddles does sound like a fun and entertaining activity, you can only do so many days of puddle-jumping without getting pneumonia.

A few days back Begin Again Toys sent us their Kickin’ Putt game which, tecnically, is perfect for outdoor play…but due to our wintery circumstances, it does for great indoor play as well!

As soon as the package came in the mail my boys were all over it!! They didn’t hesitate to open the package, tear the box, and play for hours!

There is just something about boys and bouncy balls. J. was the first to jump into action: jumping, rolling, bouncing, and kicking the ball all over the house!

Right away the boys chose their own ball and made their own games. Creative play is what makes me an advocate for toys like this. I would rather have my boys figure out things for themselves, and discovering new things along the way, than to have them play with something that is very straight-forward and doesn’t do much for their creativity and imagination.

It took a few minutes to be able to get them to stop to get a photo of them without bouncing off my walls. But we managed…and then I noticed that my boys where wearing the same colors, tee hee and big Oops!

I explained the game to he boys: the Kickin’ Putt is the original game of toss and kick, a great combination of soccer, kickball, frisbees, and golf! The main idea of the game is to toss the disc to set the hole, and player one gets to kick the “golf” ball towards the mark. Then it is player two’s turn.

Of course my boys decided to toss the disc and kick the balls all over the place. They even tried to walk around with disc in hand while balancing the ball on it…it was tough, these balls are heavy for that. But of course that did not stop these boys, oh no.

They also ignored the disc and rolled on the ball while the other one kicked the ball on his brother’s butt. The amount of games they came up with was crazy! Their favorite was to kick the ball around the dining table.

About an hour later J. realized that the balls had stripes: “Look mom! The ball has stripes, like my shirt!” Of course it was said in a squeaky voice in J.’s vocabulary (sir doesn’t pronounce the letters K or G as supposed, he changes them for Ts…so instead of caKe he says caTe…plus he sounds kind of British when he talks!)

Of course my boys decided to toss the disc and kick the balls all over the place. They even tried to walk around with disc in hand while balancing the ball on it...it was tough, these balls are heavy for that. But of course that did not stop these boys, oh no.

Besides the Kickin’ Putt being a great toy for active play, it is a safe toy for your children. The disc is made in the USA from wheat plastic while the golf balls are made from natural rubber. No harsh chemicals harmful for either your children or the planet.

So, you can rest assured that the Kickin’ Putt is fun and safe for everyone!

I love toys that make kids decide things for themselves and be creative too! Love the pics!

I think that allowing our children to discover the world by their own means (with out guidance, of course) is the best way to go. They won’t learn anything if we just show them the way things are supposed to work…they have to figure it own themselves.

      Thanks for stopping by, Dawn!

Your boys are very cute. Balls are fun for everyone. My daughter loves to play any sporting thing that involves a puck or a ball, or running after said puck or ball. This looks fun, plus I love that it keeps kids active.
