Free Country: Live in it!

A few days back I was introduced to Free Country, a company focused on providing casual outerwear and active wear. All of Free Country’s pieces were inspired by a modern and active lifestyle.

I got the opportunity to reviewing one of their jackets. Choosing favorite was a tough task to manage since I wish I had most of their jackets hanging in my closet. I don’t think my husband would like for this to happen; he already told me that I “have a lot of jackets“. But hey, in my defense, we might not live in snow-land but we do live in freezing-cold-rainy-land which tends to get windy now and then so a good jackets is necessaryThe fact that I have more than 4 jackets (plus a coat or two) is beyond the point. Right?

There are many reasons why I decided to go with the Ember jacket. One of them, if not the main reason, was that the jacket is purple (or plum as described on the website). I think that since I am daily surrounded by boys I need to let purples and pink make my life more girly. If you see something purple or pink in my house it is mine, from water bottles to shoes (yeah, I just got a new pair of purple, blue, and red sneakers), iPhone case, all mine!

Back to the jacket.

It is awesome and perfect and it keeps me warm, which is another of the reasons why I chose it. I like how fluffy and soft it is. The outer material, aka poly cire down shell, is bright, pretty, purple, and so, so soft! It kind of feels like silk.

There are many more reasons why I am extremely happy with my new, gorgeously purple, Free Country down jacket.

Free Country: Jacket Features

The Ember jacket sports down fill, which makes it warm and you toasty! I have not tried the jacket out in the snow since The Cascades keep the snow away from the coast. Maybe one of these days I’ll get the chance to take my new jacket to Mt. Baker and enjoy a good snowball fight! If I ever do I will make sure to snap some photos and share with you all!

The buttons were the main attraction for my boys. They literally sat down on my lap for about 10 minutes snapping and un-snapping them, yelling every time they figured out how to do it! I was quite entertained so I let them play for a bit…until they started to play with the zipper. Little boys, zippers, and chins do not mix! My chin can attest to that. Ouch!

Of course the jacket also features a faux fur trim hood. This hood has come in handy when I have to venture into the windy-rainy weather that is the Northwest Pacific. Rain and eyeglasses do not mix, unless you have tiny wippers to clean your eyeglasses (do they already exist, because if they do, I want a pair!).

Besides, who doesn’t like to simply hide inside a faux fur hood?! Or am I kind of crazy? Maybe.

And to make the hood even cooler, and better, it is detachable! When the hood is off you still have a high collar to keep your neck from freezing (yet again I almost always wear scarves, specially during the winter). I have this thing about keeping my neck warm, specially when I sleep; although, sleeping in my jacket wouldn’t be much of a good idea.

Free Country - Jacket

Ever since I can remember I have loved extra-long sleeves so that I could hide my hands when it was cold. This is a feature included in the jacket, and I love it!! Now not only can I hide my hands in my sleeves, but I can also keep them warm with the hand gaiter (term I did not know until now).

Other features that I forgot to portray via photography are an Interior cell phone, music, and basket pocket. So, not only will this jacket keep you warm and toasty, it will also keep your wallet, phone, and other miscellaneous safe.

Free Country also carries fleece jackets, snow pants, as well as swimming suits for women, men, and children.
