A’s first Flag Football game!!

Ever since A. showed signs of having a great arm and great aim we have talked about which sports he would enjoy the most. He would be great at baseball, a great pitcher with that arm of his. He would do amazing at hockey due to how physical he is. Basketball was never mentioned (I am personally not a basketball fan). And of course we had countless hours talking about football and how much he would love it.

Super excited to play Flag Football! After much thinking and discussing, and missing the deadline to register, A. got to join the Flag Football team!

You know, sometimes things just work out. After his team lost two of his players A. got the opportunity to join the BEARS team.  He missed the first week of practice but he was welcome to play his very first game -the team’s second. And, truth be told, it went better than expected.

Carefully watching the game. It is all in the pose!!When we got to the the Boys & Girls Club for his game he was more than ready. He met his coach and talked to him a bit. Since he hasn’t played Flag Football before he got to stand and watch a few plays.

He was so attentive. He payed closed attention to what the teams were doing. You could still see how nervous he was.

Talking to the assistant coach Watching carefully, it will soon be his turn! Soon the assistant coach invited him to stand with him. They talked a bit. The AC gave him a very important job: hold on to the ball and give it to the referee before the next play.

Man did A. take his job seriously.

Soon it was his turn to play!!

Flag Football - Bears
Finally got to play!!He has previously player football with dad and uncles and cousins, but he was so not prepared for a fast paced game between kids.

He was very nervous and tried to follow the play but it all moved so fast that no matter how hard he tried it all went too fast for him.

Once the play was over he was so overwhelmed all he wanted was to go home. But we were reassured than all of his teammates have gone through the same!

After the game was over his teammates invited him to play. So all there is to it now is practice: twice a day. We’ll have to wait and see how his next game goes!!

Some after game practice at home. Of course he loved watching and decided to invite his friend and dad to some flag football at the park!!

Are your kids part of any sports teams?

My son loves everything about Football. He has been practicing with his team and he now has more confidence….he still wishes he could tackle the other team. Hopefully when he is your son’s age we can get him into the real deal!

What fun!! My son is only 2, but really wants to play football. I’ll have to see if there is a flag football league in my area for when he is a little older.

So sweet–I love the shot of him leaning on the shoulder =) It’s great to encourage him to have fun even if he’s not playing much. I love that the AC gave him a side job too

Your son looks to be studying very hard on the field. lol Our daughter was on the summer swim team, high school volleyball team, participated in bowling and when our school finally got high school bowling she did that and went to State Competition the first year as an individual.

My son played soccer for a few years but then decided he didn’t like it anymore. He’s not really into sports. I’m hoping to get my daughter into soccer next year if we can afford it. Your son looks like he did great! Flag football is so much fun.

Great Pictures. Such a lovely family. Only one of my kids plays sports ( swimming) the other is in Band. but I know the pride of watching them perform and seeing them grow as a player/ performer. Good Job expressing that here.

I completely know what you mean. My oldest, A., is all about sports and running and wrestling while my youngest one has no interest on sports (except climbing things). Kids find different things interesting and as long as they follow their dreams I am one happy momma 🙂

Cute! I remember being so excited about J’s first soccer game, although I wouldn’t call the kid athletically inclined, at least not yet, but still it was fun to see him be apart of the team. Way to go A!

lol I’m not a fan of basketball either, but 3 of my 4 kids played. Neither of my boys played football because I was so nervous they’d get hurt. Yes, I’m one of “those moms”. The boys have both played baseball though. I’m so glad he was reassured and hope he has a great season!
