From PDX with Love

It’s been one week

It's been one weekToday a week ago O’Malley ran off during a strong wind storm we had. Somehow he managed to go outside unnoticed the night before. We found him the next day but he was so scared he just ran off into the wooded area behind our yard. And he has been gone ever since.

We have gone door to door, hung flyers, called every veterinarian, animal hospital and all shelters in town. We’ve been walking all over the woods calling and looking for him. We have been going to the Humane Society every single day, but he is nowhere to be found.

O’Malley, being still a kitten (he is turning 6 months old in five days), not neutered, with no collar or chip, there is a huge chance that someone has taken him in thinking he was a stray….with a very full and round tummy.

Worst thing is, we were going to get him fixed and microchipped before he took off.

It’s been one week since my little boy ran off, scared of the storm. My little buddy, Mouse, our lover boy who loved to wrestle with fingers and toes, who loved to run into mirrors in the middle of the night. The boy who would jump on my bathroom counter to give my hugs and kisses.

O’Malley, you are greatly missed and loved.
We hope for you to come home.

OMG i’m so sorry! This happened to me a few years ago and my indoor cat was missing for 5 days and i was scared he was gone forever, then i read this tip!

Cats hunt between midnight and 5 am. You are more likely to find them at this time, and if they’re indoor, they rarely go further than few houses down!

the next morn i set up my alarm (the 6th day Sebby had been gone) and walked out down the street at 4 am… and there he was sititng on my neighbors porch. I scared him when I apporached but I saw the hiding place where he ran. i waited for the sun to come up and then told my neighbors what was happening and asked if i could walk around their house. i saw sebby hiding. .so i approached him slowly, got down on my knees and talked to him until he walked up to me after bout 5-10 mins.

Don’t give up! you can find him! Try this tip! i hope it works for you like it did for me! i’ll be praying for you! xxx

I’m really sorry about this. I know what it’s like to lose a kitty you love. We had this happen once before and we were all sad. But hopefully some nice person will find him and take him back soon. Don’t give up!

We are a kitty family here too, so I know you all must be so scared and upset for him. I’m hoping and praying that O’Malley comes home soon.

You are so sweet, Linda! I am hoping he makes it home safe soon :)

  14. November 4, 2013 at 11:25 am

I understand how you are feeling. The other day I look out for our dog & I didn’t see her & she wasn’t answering. I went to straight panic mode. Our furry animals are family & when they are hurting we hurt.

I pray that O’Malley comes home soon.

I will be praying for O’Malley’s safe return home soon–If my cat ever got out and lost I would be totally devastated.

  16. November 4, 2013 at 12:16 pm

:( I’m so sorry. We have several indoor cats, and the few times one or two have gotten out it’s always been so nervewracking until they showed up again. Don’t lose hope – keep food out and keep calling him. I hope he returns!

so sorry to hear-I hope he finds his way home soon

  18. November 4, 2013 at 12:40 pm

I hope he comes home soon and nobody has already rehomed him. However if they have hope they are taking as good of care as it sounds like he was already receiving. Wish you luck!

I’m so sorry to hear this. Our cat ran off when we first moved into this house because she got out while the movers were bringing in our furniture. We never thought we’d see her again, but the SPCA reunited us THREE MONTHS LATER! I hope that if you don’t reunite, your kitty has made it into a happy home at least.

My husband once had a cat that ran off and came back after 2 weeks….so I am hoping and praying that he makes it home soon! I’ll have to ask my husband to go check out the Humane Society again today!

I’m so sorry this happened. I had a cat do that once. He eventually returned a full week later thankfully but I know how sad I was during that time. I hope you are able to find him!

Poor kitty. I hope, you find him soon. It must be sad to miss him.

    • November 7, 2013 at 7:26 am

I miss him dearly! He was my cuddle buddy. He’d sleep by my legs and wake me up around 5am because it was breakfast time!

  25. November 4, 2013 at 8:24 pm

I am so sorry, I really hope your kitty comes home soon. I have 5 cats myself – 2 indoor and 3 wild cats, when my wild cats do not come around for days it worries me, I could not imagine if my indoor cats ran off.

  26. November 4, 2013 at 8:53 pm

I’ve never had a pet run away.. we had a turtle once we had to let go before we moved, we weren’t allowed to have pets, that’s the closest I can relate :/

I hope you can get your cat back!!

  27. November 4, 2013 at 11:38 pm

Dont give up, my Mums dog ran off a couple of years ago because of a storm, turned out he ended up 19 miles away and it took a month to find him

  28. November 5, 2013 at 5:17 am

I am really sorry about this. I hope he comes home soon.

  29. November 5, 2013 at 9:06 am

I am so sorry to hear that. I know the feeling. We lost one our our dogs years ago and still up to now we wonder what happened. We thought she was dragged by Coyotes or something got her and must have killed her. We looked everywhere and asked people for permission so we could look at their fields and look for our dog and maybe there might still be the remains of her if ever she ran into trouble with the coyotes. Still heartbreaking now knowing what happened to her or did she die. So sorry. :(

So sad to hear this! The day our cat ran off we checked the roads and curbs just in case he got hit by a car or something. It is sad. I completely understand the feeling, some closure would come in handy.

One of my favorite cats ever ran off when she snuck out the door. It was a heartbreak for all of us.
