One of the many things I love about Christmas (Catholic and proud) is Christmas lights at night. It just looks amazing and very festive. Usually we go all out with Christmas decorations (we don’t do blow up figures in our yard or over the top light shows) but we have been so crazy busy these past couple of months that we just don’t have the time, or patience, to decorate the outside of the house. No huge wreaths & silver bells, no garlands this year. But one thing that has to be there is our Christmas tree which I did not decorate my self at all (yei for little kiddos!). But one thing that did happen this year was adding a new decor tradition: decorating with LED String Lights!
The guys from RTGS Products sent me the most amazing LED String Lights ever. Amazing as in I-cannot-believe-I-never-thought-of-decorating-with-LED-lights amazing.
RTGS Products LED Lights are not exactly what I had in mind. Actually, I didn’t even know what LED string lights would look like so I learned something as soon as I opened the package.
Pretty much they are very tiny bulbs of light wired together:
Decorating with LED String Lights
When I got the LED lights I honestly did not know what to do with them. I thought about putting them inside a cool wine bottle and decorate something with it….but how am I supposed to store a 30 foot strong of lights in a wine bottle? So, that got scratch and tossed away.
Wreaths? Nah, I very much love my Christmas wreath.
Right around Thanksgiving weekend it hit me: decorate the MANTLE! So, I did.
My husband insisted that I kept the books on our mantle…hence why there are titles such as Assassin and all Harry Potter books as well as a few of my personal favorite Dean Koontz books. Gotta mix it up to make everyone happy, right?
Of course I also had to include pine branches I got at the Christmas tree farm, some old pinecones from last year as well as red and golden ornaments that had no spot on the Christmas tree.
LED String Lights – My thoughts
The 30 foot LED string light I received has a whopping 100 LED lights…which meant I had to fold the string in half and sort of wrap the lights together. But that was more than OK because I was able to interlap the lights so that they would appear to be closer to each other.
Another great feature is the extra 6 foot long clear cable connecting wire with power supply so there are no randomly hanging lights between my mantle and my electric plug.
Something else I liked was that I could twist the string and ply it to my liking.
Also, I once left them on over night by accident. Normally lights would get hot with constant use but these stayed cool, like I had just turned them on. This is amazing on itself since I might use them next to decorate my sons’ ceiling.
Imagine what their ceiling will look like: it’d their own starred sky. I doubt that they’ll let me take them down for next year!
