From PDX with Love

Reading. As always I am nursing a few books at a time. At this very moment I have 3 bookmarked: Not Quite the Classics by Colin Mochrie (tougher to read than I though, no comedy!); Crossed by Ally Condie, not as good as Matched, its predecessor, having a hard time getting back into the story; and last but not least Odd Hours from Dean Koontz from which I cannot make it past the 3rd chapter. This month is not starting so well on the reading front.

Doing. I am freezing my butt off. Even though the heater is on and the fireplace is on as well I am so cold. I should be all wrapped up in a furry, heavy blanket.

Missing. My family. It sucks that they live so far away (as in Texas) but I would never move to Houston (it is too sprawled for my taste).

Thinking about. I really need a haircut and I have been thinking on what I should do with it. I want to go short, just right below the collarbone but still trying to decide whether to do it all in one length or lots of layers. And I might just have to do either highlights or ombre tips. I just need a new look for 2014.

Feeling thankful. For my husband, my boys, and my family, for putting up with me. I am truly blessed to have them all be part of my life. Truly blessed, extremely thankful.

Watching. I am not a TV buff anymore and rarely watch any TV (although it is known to happen that I end up watching my husband’s shows at least twice since he always falls asleep and, therefore, watches them twice). I am watching Pretty Little Liars (DVRd). But right now, as in, currently: I am watching the birds outside my window as they eat from the birdhouse we hung from a tree. They are so cute! And we even have sneaky squirrels (and this one too) who come eat the bird food.

What about you?
What are you up to today?

I really miss reading. I haven’t picked up a book for more than reading a page since my son was a newborn! He’s now 17 months!!! I can completely relate to your feelings about freezing AND being far away from family! I’m in Edmonton, AB, and this week has been bitter. Our entire house is heated only from a wood stove. Which doesn’t help either. And while I’m in Canada, my family is in California!

Working today! Not that much fun I know.

  4. February 6, 2014 at 8:40 am

Today is filled with tons of work and networking for me. I also have several posts I need to get written and lined up for next week. Meanwhile we are crazy packing our house and preparing for a big move. We moved 3,200 miles away from our family 6 months ago and we’re over it. So we’re leaving the FREEZING Midwest and going back to California, to be near family. So excited! ;)

We are working on our homeschooling and then I have quite a bit of work to do. We are stuck indoor with the snow/ice :)

I thought I was the only one who read more then one book at a time :)! Right now I’m currently reading Gaelen Foley Princess and an Eloisa James book. I’m debating one of Cynthia Eden’s fallen angel books too :)

here’s my thoughts about hair. ask your stylist to do something fun at that length. give her or him some freedom to do what they think would look awesome. it’s hair, it will grow back if you hate it, but chances are? you’ll love it. i just chopped 8 inches off and did fun new color and i’m SO happy i did!

I have been to laundry today washing pillow and bed covers just the right time because the sun gave a hot one day today

  10. February 6, 2014 at 9:39 am

I need to get a hair cut and keep trying to decide if I should chop it all off or do something different.

  11. February 6, 2014 at 9:59 am

I rarely watch TV either. Today is errand day!

  12. February 6, 2014 at 10:05 am

I’m freezing my butt off too. It’s so cold here in Texas. It’s worse because it’s so unusual and I’m totally not used to this.

  13. February 6, 2014 at 10:12 am

This week I’m nursing a horrible headache thanks to the horrible cold that has infested my body. bleh. So I’m a huge TV buff this week, (normally not so much…I’m usually reading a book, but not this week).
I read the Matched Series and I agree, the 1st book was the best of them all. Didn’t like the series ending though.

Today I am getting caught up on some blogging backlog, getting excited for the Olympics and hanging out with my two little ones! My daughter is going to be a year old tomorrow and she is acting like a little ham today so we are having fun nodding at each other and shaking our heads and sticking our tongues out. =) Thanks for sharing your day with us! I have family in Texas that I’m missing too<3

  24. February 6, 2014 at 1:18 pm

I am freezing my butt off, too. And blogging. Always blogging.

  25. February 6, 2014 at 5:17 pm

Today is a catch up blog day. My real job, nursing, has been very demanding lately. I also made a yummy dinner for my family. I am about to head over to my mom’s house for a cup of coffee and some chatting.

  26. February 6, 2014 at 5:55 pm

I just did reverse ombre to my hair and I really like it!!! I am freezing my butt off, too. :/

  27. February 6, 2014 at 6:47 pm

  28. February 6, 2014 at 7:08 pm

Trying to keep warm too. We just can’t get a break this winter. Tonight is going to be below zero windchill temps – again! Texas would sure be a nice place to visit right about now! lol Spring is coming! :)

  30. February 6, 2014 at 10:20 pm

Today was the dreaded running of errands day, but at least I ended it by watching the Olympics. I thoroughly enjoyed that!

  31. February 7, 2014 at 6:13 am

I have time for a little blog hopping (entering giveaways) then I’m off to watch Miss Molly. Witch will involve danceparty, coloring, and of course making a fun Valentines Day craft.
