Bacon and a Pyramid Pan Giveaway


There are a few recipes in my repertoire that we love to eat but that could still be better. It is just silly little things that could change your take in life; take for example: bacon wrapped chicken with cream cheese and asparagus filling. It is the most delicious and moist chicken ever! So, where’s the problem you say? The bacon touching the baking dish does not cook properly and does not crisp at all (which my bacon-loving husband dislikes). So when I was approached and offered a Pyramid Mat to review I could not say no.

I had never heard of the Pyramid Mat prior to this review. But in my defense: I rarely watch TV (and when I do is because my husband is “watching” one of his DVRd shows as he sleeps) so I have never seen its infomercial. But I am glad I was introduced to it.


What is the Pyramid Mat?

{From PDX with Love} Pyramid Pan giveawayThe true test came when we decided to cook up some bacon for breakfast. You know, breakfast isn’t complete without bacon, right?!

So, I digress. Bacon.

{From PDX with Love} Pyramid Pan giveaway{From PDX with Love} Pyramid Pan giveawayWe were able to fit 8 slices of bacon. I guess the amount will vary depending on the type and brand of bacon you get (we got ours at Costco). Once laid out and looking all pretty they went into the oven.

Of course I had to sneak a peek every now and then. This was our very first time making bacon in the oven so it was a completely different experience. I must say that I truly missed the sizzle of the bacon grease (did not miss the cleaning up  part at all!).

{From PDX with Love} Pyramid Pan giveaway {From PDX with Love} Pyramid Pan giveaway After a few minutes, can’t actually pin point how many of them were required since I was not in charge of the bacon making, the bacon made its grand appearance (after the picture right above this paragraph we put the bacon back again for 5 extra minutes to make it extra crispy but was not able to snap another photo -we thrive on bacon).

The bacon was not as crunchy as if we would have fried it on a pan. But that is so not the point of using the Pyramid Pan. Thanks to the Pyramid Pan we were able to make the rest of the breakfast while the bacon cooked in the oven. Not only that. But the bacon was not as greasy as if pan fried, I didn’t have grease all over my stove top (and microwave) to clean, and there was no need to flip the bacon at all -both top and bottom were cooked perfectly.

    I would cook bacon and a lot of it!

    I like the idea of bacon. Currently I have roaster pan that came with a rack in it that I use to bake my bacon on because I can’t stand it sitting in all that grease. However, it doesn’t fit real well in my cookie sheet so I think this would be better.

    I always keep little snacks like pizza rolls and chicken nuggets in the freezer. I’d use the Pyramid Pan to bake them to perfection.
