I received the products below, free of charge, to facilitate this review.
Once upon a time I used to have super white teeth. I didn’t drink coffee, didn’t like wine, and avoided sodas at all costs (and still do). But once I discovered the amazing taste of coffee and the warmth of a good glass of wine my teeth lost that white shine. They weren’t yellow but they weren’t white either. They were on the cream side of the scale.
This never stopped me from smiling. But now, after trying Smile Brilliant I can smile brighter because I know my teeth are a few shades whiter. I haven’t reached my whitening goal, but I am getting close.
A smile is the light in the window of your soul.

How to make your custom dental impressions
I must be honest, at first I was overwhelmed by everything I was asked to do: make your impressions while making sure you only screw up once, because otherwise you will be seriously screwed; mail them in while hoping that your new infamous mail man won’t loose them between the house and the post office; then pray he delivers the new teeth whitening trays; and then whiten away.
But it is not that complicated! First things first:
- Brush and floss. Make sure that there is no gunk or junk on or in between your teeth. The impressions will show everything that you forgot to remove.
- Mix the base paste and catalyst paste until the mix turns a lovely shade of periwinkle (1 minute). Make sure you do not go over 1 minute, hence my phone stopwatch.
- Add the putty to the tray (45 seconds).
- MAKE ONE TRAY AT A TIME!! Otherwise, the second putty will dry out.
- Make upper teeth impression. Don’t wiggle, jiggle, or bite down on the trays. Dancing is allowed though. Remove the tray once it hardens (2 minutes).
- Repeat steps to make bottom impressions.
- Mail back.
- Wait patiently while praying that your mailman won’t loose your package.
While making the impressions you will drool like a dog. I also noticed that my jaws hurt a bit after I did the impressions. The discomfort soon dissipated. Like my mom always reminded us:
Teeth Whitening Trays
The trays fit like a glove. I was expecting these rigid impressions that would rub against my gum but I am glad I was wrong. The Smile Brilliant trays are so comfortable that, while you will notice they are there, you will be able to go about your day. That said, I wouldn’t recommend using them outside your house: while they are comfortable they will add a lisp to your speech, they are visible (so that hot guy/gal will see your trays). I use mine while working on my computer, cooking, reading or doing chores around the house.
The teeth whitening process is quite simple. You will now need the desensitizing gel and the professional whitening gel and your trays.
Although not necessary for the whitening to happen, I recommend to use the desensitizing gel for about 20 minutes before using the whitening gel. I have very sensitive teeth: I cannot drink anything straight out of the fridge let alone eat fruit that has been in the fridge because it is too cold for my teeth.
How long you leave the whitening gel on depends on how sensitive your teeth are. I made the mistake to leave the gel on for far too long (1:45hrs) which left my teeth hurting for a few hours.
Teeth Whitening: First Results
The first thing I noticed after taking off the trays was that my teeth stains (due to fluoride in the water) were whiter. Definitely not what I was aiming for! I also noticed that my teeth were, indeed, a shade whiter as well!
Yeah my teeth stains were looking for some attention by shining as bright as a neon light but…Smile Brilliant truly works!!
Smile Brilliant retails for $119.95 which may seem to much. But think of how much you have to pay your dentist per visit to whiten your teeth. Smile Brilliant pays itself in just a couple uses. And with two syringes of whitening gel you will have a bright smile for ages!
