Blue Apple Books is an independent publisher dedicated to produce top-notch, age-appropriate books for young children. Blue Apple is untraditional in a number of ways. Our books are created collaboratively, with authors, illustrators, editors and designers working together. Each on of our books addresses an important theme in early childhood: separation, loss, and reunion; emotional bond between parents and children; the development of empathy.”

Books are a very important part in life. I remember enjoying visiting my school’s library back when I was little. And I want my boys to enjoy books as much as I do. So I was very pleased to being able to review 4 of Blue Apple Book’s newest additions: Counting Chickens, Don’t Let Aunt Mabel Set the Table, Bear in Underwear, and Christmas Delicious.
“Don’t count your chickens … but do count your eggs, fish, and elephants! Distinctive Flensted Mobiles are featured in this innovative counting book. Young readers can count from one to ten and back again, by twos or threes, and can even find solutions to simple word problems.”
Counting Chickens (by Flensted) is A.’s favorite book ever! He can go through its pages all day long, counting and pointing at the chickens, their eggs. There are elephants too!
Even though my boy is only 2.5 years old he is already becoming a pro at counting! He’ll bring the book to me and just count his way through the pages. He likes the book so much he even takes it to bed!
I love the simplicity of the drawings which resemble Christian and Grethe Flensted’s mobiles. The colors grasp my boys’ attention and simply won’t let go. But they love it. It is a great book to teach simple math.
“Best-selling pop artist Todd Goldman makes his Blue Apple Books debut with this zany story about a bear, a backpack filled with underwear, and a group of furryfriends who cheer him on. Readers of all ages will love Goldman’s bold, comic illustrations, and the printed fabric “tighty-whities” on the book’s cover will have young readers squealing with delight.”
Bear in Underwear is J.’s ultimate favorite book ever! The illustrations are very cute, colorful and fun. Bear is joined by his forest friends (including big foot and a very cute squirrel). Along the way Bear finds a backpack full of underwear which he later share with his friends.
It is a fun book for little minds. And…you can touch the Bear’s white undies!
Don’t Let Auntie Mabel Set the Table, by Vanessa Brantley Newton.
“Auntie Mabel and her family and friends have gathered for their big Sunday dinner and can’t wait to dig into a delicious, mouthwatering meal. Before they can begin, Auntie Mabel starts—and doesn’t stop!—blessing everyone and everything she surveys: the yams and Brussels sprouts, the table and chairs—even the president of the United States!”
This is a fun, quick read! My boys left in the middle of me reading the book out loud but I just couldn’t stop reading it! I liked how the book is based around a Sunday dinner with the family. And how Auntie Mabel just blesses everything and everyone! Love it!
Christmas Delicious, by Lyn Loates and Mark Jones.
“Celebrate Christmas with Raisin and Rice, two Manhattan mice who are lucky to live in the storeroom at Zanzibar’s Deli, which is filled to the rafters with delectable treats.”
Raisin and Rice and two cute little mice (hey, that rhymed!). Together they put together a huge Christmas feast but at the end have no one to share it with. But they invite their friends over and have a merry good time.
Christmas Delicious has been added to our Christmas traditions. From last Christmas on we will read this book before going to bed, to remind us of how fortunate we are and that Christmas time is all about sharing with those we love the most.
Gotta love a book with a great message, right!?
