Great Expectations {Guest Post}

Steph is the master mind behind A Grande Life where she shares her “grande” life with all her readers. Steph is married and is currently pregnant with her second son! Oh, and did I mention she designs blogs too?!

Expectations: None.

Seriously people, if my first go round of child birthing taught me anything, it’s that the unexpected can and will happen.

When I was pregnant with kiddo #1 {E}, everything was going by the book. We did everything when we should. We had our monthly, then bi-weekly appointments, all of our pre-natal testing when we were supposed to, were given wonderful showers {yes, plural}, and read all the books.

But then life threw us a curve ball.

I got sick {a little thing called HELLP}.

All that prepping and planning went out the window.

One minute we were sitting in the doctor’s office for a check-up and the next, we were rushing to the hospital for monitoring. Monitoring turned into being admitted to the hospital for testing which ultimately led to “Don’t go anywhere, Dad. We’re having a baby.”

All of our expectations changed in a matter of 24 hours.

At that point, our only expectations were a healthy baby and a healthy momma {we got both!}.

I would be lying to myself {and to you} if I said those events didn’t affect how I feel this pregnancy. If I am being completely honest, I am just waiting to hear those words again. So I guess my expectations this time around are that anything and everything could happen {the good, the bad, and, most definitely, the ugly}. As much as my husband doesn’t like to hear it, I am prepared for the worst {as much as I can be}. I am prepared for it all to happen again.

Because when in life, does anything ever live up to your perfect expectations?
