Echoism {Symmetrical Portraits}

As I Stumbled around the web, since my Sims crashed on me and can’t seem to install it again, I came upon Echoism.

“Echoism” plays with the notion of your own identity. What do you look like? What are the things that make you look like you – your identifying features? If you are made symmetrical, do you consider yourself more beautiful, less so, or is it just weird? Or is it you at all? Do you have a best side? What is to be said of left and right brain dominance?*

I’ve always liked me right side. It is softer looking (?). I have to be honest, mostly with myself, but I really see myself as pretty. I know I am not ugly…it just feels weird trying to determine if I am pretty or not. Sometimes I feel pretty…some others I just want to crawl back in bed and wait for the day to be over. But I guess we all have these moments.

I have grown into my face. I think it looks better with some makeup on. Not much, light foundation, mascara, and maybe some blush.

I decided to join in the project and I must say that I can see myself different now. I am who I am. Pretty or not I feel a bit better about the way I look. Either way, as long as I feel good and confident about who I am that’s all that matters…now all I have to do is get rid of that tummy and we are good!

Here are my photos…

{Right side vs left side}

After seeing this photo I realized that I don’t dislike my left side anymore! I really like the photo on the right the best…even with those two marks on my eyebrows…and that pimple on my forehead!!

The white mark is a chicken pox scar.

This is one of the two that I saved to the project! So if you visit Echoism (which you must) you should be able to spot me!!

Took this while goofing off and walking back to the kitchen. I really like it though. I like both of the photos! It is amazing how different we look when we are symmetrical. Each side is so different and when put together, left with left and right with right, we look so totally different!

And like any good wife I asked Tyler to join in the fun!! And this is his shot:

It is a bit hard to find the middle exactly. I found out I had to tilt my head to the right a bit to get it close to that middle line. If you try it out let me know so I can go spot you!!

    I tried and…it was creepy-but fun at the same time!! I looked like an alien in one of them, and in the other one I looked like a man. I’m so thankful my left side is not symmetrical with the right one. You never notice how weird some of our facial features are until you do something like this!

      I thought the same too!! It gives you a whole new perspective of what you look like….
