I hate doing laundry. Seriously I hate it! It is not doing the laundry but what comes after it is done, the folding. Argh, makes me cringe. And with two little boys there’s so many clothes to wash. And, well, they are boys so it is rare to find a piece of clothing that is stain free! I usually buy the Costco brand detergent and stain remover separate. I spray on the stain, dump in the wash, add the detergent and hope the stain won’t be there when the cycle is done!
Well, as you might as well remember, I am a VIP Purex Insider (yippie!) and they gave me the opportunity of reviewing their brand new Purex Complete with Zout detergent.
It works as well as the stain remover I use (one in a white bottle, forgot its name and I really don’t feel like going upstairs to find out, but it is one of the popular brands). Anywhoo…I first tried it on a load of the boys’ clothes. The toughest stain in the load was tomato sauce, one that is hard to deal with. I did not soak the stain in the detergent as the instructions asked. And the stain did not come out completely. I had to throw it in again so that the stain was completely gone. And of course I forgot to snap a picture of it! So, for chocolate, grass and tomato sauce stain, soak the spot with the detergent and rub as much of the stain off as possible. And wash as usual.
The second time I used it was again on the boys’ clothes. Here’s a before and after picture of J.’s pants covered in Jell-O, mister loves to hide his food under his butt!
There is no sign of a stain whatsoever it even removed an old stain!
HOW IT FIGHTS STAINS
MY THOUGHTS. I am still using my old stain remover mostly out of being used to doing so. The smell…oh the smell. All the detergents we’ve used smell the same, lavender and vanilla and other smells. But Purex smells more citrusy, more early morning burst than keep calm and go to sleep, you know what I mean?! And every time I do the laundry and use Purex Complete with Zout, and I mean every single time I do so, Tyler looks at me all bright eyed and tells me that he loves the smell! So we have converted to Purex which is priced from $3.49 to $7.99 depending on size and retailer.
