I met Tyler at a SuperBowl Extravaganza Party back when I used to work as an au pair in 2005. I remember I was sitting all by my lonesome self (surrounded by people) on the far left of the couch enjoying my then favorite Football team, NE Patriots, as they won the game (against Tyler’s rooting team for the SuperBowl, the Eagles).
It was during the half time show when he sat next to me and I got a bit nervous. To my defense, I had only been there for almost 2 months and knew no one in that room. Plus my husband is quite a handsome man…so he made me nervous! Hehehe, I am such a girl.
As he sat down next to me he stared at me and after more than an hour of sitting on my butt I was getting quite uncomfortable. But if it was not enough, lets add a fly to the equation! Tyler looked at me and asked, “are you comfortable?” and I said, “not really” and smiled. I can’t remember the second half of the room but I couldn’t keep my eyes off Tyler. I was being as subtle as can be.
The game was over and Tyler left as quietly as he had arrived. By then I had no idea what his name was and later on I learned that he thought I was 16 and not 20!
Later that week, Wednesday to be exact, Tyler came back to my boss’s home to play poker. By then every body in the house knew pof my crush on him. I think even Tracee, the neighbor, knew about it! As they played Bryant, my former boss, asked me to cover for him since he had to take a phone call. Of course here’s where the flirting began. Tyler tried to convince me to put all of Bryant’s chips in since I had no clue how to play. Did not work.
Thursday he asked me out. Saturday we went out to a movie, Hitch. Dinner, Italian. Bowling, with his friends! And we have been together ever since.
We lived apart for 1.5 years. But that’s a long, long story.
April 21st, 2007, 7pm @ Peace Arch Park under a gorgeous tree we got married. Every morning I get to live my happily ever after story.
Which, would you say, is your Happily Ever After story?
