Why I love having boys

It is a known fact that I have two boys. Plus a husband. 3:1 ratio. I will always be overrun by testosterone. And I have nothing against this. I quite enjoy it. Often times I hear people say “You need a girl!” or “when are you going to start trying for a girl?”, it gets tiring at times but all I have to say is smile and nod.

I love having boys. I don’t think I would like to have it any other way. A bit biassed, but still true. You see, having boys is all I’ve known. Maybe, just maybe, if I had a daughter I would know the perks of having little skirts running around the house, but I don’t. I have two little noise makers jumping off the walls and giving me gray hairs. And I love it!

I love their messy hair. There’s no need for pink bows and headbands and pretty hairstyles to be arranged for every morning. Short hair is a staple for boys. Mine just have messy curls and I love them that way!

There’s no end to fart jokes, burping and being gross in this house. Boogers are always spread all over. Farts are funny. Burping is even better, specially if mom asks you to quit it! If it bugs mommy, be louder! And even though I often ask them to stop, I love it! It always makes me giggle inside.

Boys love dirt. They love getting dirt and messy and gooey. The more scrubbing required during bath time makes for even more fun times. And as long as their dirt stays outside and off my carpet, mommy is a happy camper.

Pooping is a family affair. Every time either one of the boy poops we all have to know the details of it and you are lucky if you are invited to the bathroom. From “mom, I am going to go poop” to “I poop” to “mom, clean my poop” shouted at the top of their lungs, if it is happening you have to know. And if you try to ignore it they will find you and tell you anyways.

Clothes are cheaper. Slab a rocket on a t-shirt and my boys would love it. They love to mix and match their outfits (Specially patterns that clash with each other) but as long as they are going outside with their clothes on I am a happy momma.

Seeing them play together and fight for each other is something, well, I love. That’s what you get with brotherhood, you love and fight and love again. Sitting on your brother’s face while laughing to the top of your lungs (J) doesn’t mean he doesn’t love his brother. In return A. will tackle him to the ground and lay on him. They punch each other to have them laughing together not even 2 minutes later. They fight, and they love it! And I love seeing it. I am glad they love each other that much.

Of course, this does not mean that I don’t drool over girly clothes at Target. I think they are the cutest things ever. But I have what I have and I couldn’t be any more grateful for what God has given me. I wouldn’t change it for world!

Meet Colin from the Monster Factory! {Review}

I knew moving back to Bellingham would bring new adventures. But little did I know that I was going to find a little fella on my backyard. See, yesterday was dry (as dry as the Northwest can ever get without the sun) so the boys and I decided to play cars on the dirt because, what boy doesn’t like playing with dirt?! I was walking along the fence trying to spot our squirrel friends and that’s when I found him.

I snapped a quick photo and moved on to my doings still wondering what had just happened. Later on I was to find him again…and, must I add, he is quite photogenic!

He introduced himself. His name is Colin and he calls Monster Factory his home. Apparently he was so into thinking about what his future has in store for him that once he came back to earth he realized he was far away from home.

The Monster Factory is a Toronto toy brand run by Adam Dunn, Rhya Tamasauskas, and Bliss Man. Combining their backgrounds in film, art, and fashion, the creators have developed a strong sense of collaboration that affects every aspect of their process from storytelling to product design. Their efforts have produced countless monster characters who, despite their appearances, are just like you and me.

After Colin showed me where he comes from I realized that his Monster Factory family is full of love and that enjoy living surrounded by all their monsters. I am glad they are not the stereotyped monsters we all hear about. You know, the hide-under-your-bed-and-scare-you-to-death monsters but quite-cute-and-friendly monsters (not that Colin would appreciate to be called ‘cute’, he is a teenager nonetheless, and you just can’t call a teenage boys cute).

Colin also shared that he likes video games and to space out while thinking about his future (which brought him all the way to the northwest, remember?). He is a silly one. Which makes him a perfect fit for our family!

So, for the time being, Colin will be staying with us. He even made friends with mister J who was very concerned with Colin’s butt being covered in dirt. Friends care.

To meet Colin and all of his monster friends head on over to Monster Factory. Maybe you’ll find the perfect monster for you, your family, and/or someone you love!

And we are back!

Long story short: we are back! Yeah, I guess the title explains enough, but, you see, we are indeed double-y back: back on the blog and back on Bellingham!

Yup, made the move from sunny Colorado to soggy North West.

We left the warmth of Denver. Left the amazing thunder storms (or at least we’ve heard they are so). We left a small apartment sandwiched between two floors. The people upstairs too loud to handle. The neighbors downstairs barely home but good people.

We left the prairie dogs  to live in their brown plains, and the bunnies to run around free (without Scratch trying to bite their ears off).

I left my job.

We have made it to Bellingham. We are finally back home. We are learning to accept the soggy grounds and overcast skies. Ty seems to be having some issues with the weather though. I hope they can soon come to terms.

We have traded great weather for family and friends. Yup, my family is still in Texas but they know they are more than welcome to visit (*wink, wink).

We have traded prairie dogs, bunnies and lost geese for squirrels and God knows what other amazing creatures. And to be quite honest I like squirrels more than prairie dogs (who tend to their own business and rarely make a sound) and bunnies (who poop everywhere, cute little fellas though).

I have traded my job for the best job in the world: full-time mommy!

Yup, I am back at being home with my boys. Early morning baths, choo-choo’s who run late all the time, car crashes that smash distracted fingers. Wrestling, unexpected attacks, and messy, boogery faces. Silly dances and high pitched notes. Missed being around my boys 28 hours a day.

Now that I have time to unwind and enjoy life I will be bringing the blog back. Oralie is joining in on the fun once more!

Of course, and typical me, there will be a change of look coming one of these days (waiting for the hubs to have a few hours to help me out). I will start by doing my late reviews and slowly will bring giveaways back.

I have been planning some additions to the blog, like recipes. I also want to start focusing on my photography a bit more. Still, I have to work on my editing skills which are solely based on downloaded actions, but it is something, right?

So bare with us as we jump back on track.

And may I say: Welcome back!
